Interesting trend in the VC world as of late. Fred Wilson has been consistently predicting this for quite some time now, claiming it’s a necessary evil in order for the industry to thrive again. The VC sector is completely and entirely oversaturated with too many firms vying for and promising (nearly) statistically impossible returns. I think it’s quite evident that the future of VC rests in firms specializing in niche sectors - gone is the heyday of large VCs with their arms nabbing at everything in sight. I look forward to seeing how this momentum unfolds…and seeing VCs create a new role for themselves in the financial world.
